Deaf Child Crossing By: Marlee Matlin

This book is very original, because it is unlike any other book I’ve ever read. It is about a nine year old girl named Megan. She is deaf and because of this, she gets very frustrated in life. When Cindy moves into her neighbourhood, the two girls quickly become best friends. That summer, they went to camp together. But when Megan has a new good friend, Lizzie; Cindy feels left out. Will they learn what having a real friend feels like? Or will they fall apart? Read it and find out!
I would recommend this book to the ages 11 and up. Even adults can enjoy it. A book with emotion and fun, you will only leave the couch when you finish this book. This book will help you understand how deaf people feel and will make you think twice before you act when you encounter a deaf person.
The author, Marlee Matlin, is deaf since she was 18 months. She won the Academy Award and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress for her role in “Children Of A Lesser God.” Now she lives in Los Angeles with her husband, two children and dog “Annie”.
