The Percy Jackson/Heroes of Olympus Characters Book Tag💙

Hello Bookworms, now I’m sure many of you are aware that I LOVE PERCY JACKSON! Not just the characters(although Annabeth Chase does have my heart), but the entire series! And don’t get me started on Uncle Rick. I LOVE YOU! I first read this series when I was eight/nine, and it completely altered my life. Now, not in an especially ~dramatic~ way, but I kid you not, I would “pretend” to go into the Underworld and run up and down my street pretending to fight monsters. I also forced my little sister, who at the time did NOT understand what was going on. And we would play this for HOURS! I loved it so much. Plus, thank you so much to Cielo @bellerosereads for tagging me!

I have a few posts about this series, and some expressing my love for it. You can find those here:

This is SUCH a hard question.

2020 has been a year of discovering new books and authors for me, and along with that I’ve fallen in love with so many books. I discovered my ALL-TIME favorite book EVER this year; A Little Life. I wrote an extensive review on it, and I unequivocally believe I will cherish this book for years, and even decades to come.

Here’s an excerpt from my review:

A Little Life needs to be digested. No word can be skipped, every sentence has meaning and every chapter rips off a little piece of your heart.

A Little Life would fit ~flawlessly~ into this category, but as I’ve just referred to this book another pick would be Gone Girl. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn is such a magnificently written novel. With an endless number of twists and turns, it is IMPOSSIBLE to guess where the story is heading.

This book is also great for discussions, and this year I also discussed it with the book club I lead at my school. So calling all mystery and thriller lovers out there, READ THIS!

This series isn’t necessarily underhyped, it just isn’t appreciated as MUCH as it should be. I RELISHED this series. I have lost count at the number of times I have read it(and the other books), but surely it’s over ten. There is just something about the characters, the romance and the writing that has got me hooked.

I am planning on reviewing the entire series on my blog, although I first read it years ago. I’m also not that big of a Katharine McGee fan, her popular books such as American Royals were not my favourite. But The Thousandth Floor is unlike any of her other books. I would recommend this book if you are a contemporary or romance lover.

This category doesn’t have THAT many contenders, because I am pretty good at knowing which books I will like or dislike from the get-go. Very few novels have surprised me, but one that immediately comes to mind is Confessions of A Shopaholic, which I have a review of here. This book is a light read, that I honestly thought I would hate. It’s NOT a book I would ever read normally, but something just got me interested, and I got ADDICTED!

Here’s an excerpt from my review:

“Following along with Becky as she makes one stupid yet hilarious decision after the next NEVER gets boring. And that’s why YOU can read this series at any time. Have you just finished an intense series and want to cool off? Read this. Just read a cute romance novel? Read this. Got disappointed by an anticipated new release? Read this.

Ahhh Chiron, I miss you! This tag is making me want to re-read the series SO BAD! And that’s why this question deserves The Lightning Thief as the answer. This book just reminds me of when I was eight and first picked up the Lightning Thief. I was thrown into greek mythology, knowing nothing about it, but wanting to learn so much. I fell in love with the writing, the characters and Camp Half-Blood.

Also, this is off-topic, but I REALLY want some Percy Jackson/Camp Half-Blood merch, anyone know any good stores?

I don’t have a physical copy of The Lightning Thief, so I’m using this gorgeous fan art instead. Also, I’m not sure who the artist is, please comment below so I can credit them!

Oooh, I love this question! As an older sister, I find myself searching for books that have a strong sibling bond or explore those relationships. I find that more often than not, these are left up to the reader’s imagination, and other character relationships are prioritized. A book that I adore that touches on this sibling relationship is The Cruel Prince. I sound like a broken record, but I DO have a review on this series coming up… ahhh I LOVE THESE BOOKS!

But I do know that this sibling relationship is often unexplored in young adult novels, if anyone has good recommendations for this category, LET ME KNOW!

I am so blessed to say that I have read dozens of incredible books that have allowed me to experience this feeling. One book in particular that I recently read is Fable by Adrienne Young. I received this novel as an arc, and going into it I certain I would dislike it. It was the first “pirate” book I had ever read, and the setting seemed unfamiliar and strange.

But I promptly changed my mind when Fable stole my heart, as did West. I have a mini-review coming this month and this book is discussed there. I CANNOT WAIT until Namesake comes out, I actually NEED IT RIGHT NOW!

The ACOTAR series as well as the Throne of Glass series is well-loved, and I am pleased to report that I loved them too. There is so much to love in both the series’. The characters are beyond amazing and the world that the author creates is unbelievable. I have reviewed all of the Throne of Glass books on my blog and I may review the ACOTAR series once I re-read it.

Sarah J. Mass is SUCH a good author, I don’t think I’ve read a book by her that I haven’t’ enjoyed. Next on my tbr is House of Earth and Blood; another one of her novels.

Have you read these two series‘? Let me know!!!

Looking for Alaska is a book that I can always come back too. I know that I will love it even more than I did the last time each time I reread it. It’s pretty surprising given that I don’t like any other of John Green’s novels, ESPECIALLY The Fault in Our Stars. THAT BOOK OH NO NO NO! I hate that book with every cell in my body. I have a review here, but I will warn you that I was pretty brutal.

And now, to discuss the book that we are ACTUALLY supposed to be talking about, here’s my review for Looking for Alaska.

This book is amazing. Yep, just read my review and you will understand😉.

The Poppy War (The Poppy War, #1) by R.F. Kuang

I can never predict a five-star read, but I CAN predict a four-star read. And if all goes well, I HOPE(let’s all cross our fingers) that House of Earth and Blood will be a great read, along with The Poppy War.

I HAVE BEEN HEARING SO MUCH about the Poppy War it’s actually unbelievable. I have been 100% peer-pressured into buying this book….. don’t worry guys, it’s getting here towards the end of September. I am looking DIRECTLY at May @ForeverandEverly when I say that I bought the poppy war because of YOU!

What are some books you bought because of other readers?

Kerri Resnick Design

NAMESAKE NAMESAKE NAMESAKE GIMME GIMME GIMME! Also, Fable is pictured on the left and Namesake is on the right. JUST LOOK AT HOW STUNNING THE COVERS ARE!

Namesake is the sequel to Fable, and it’s coming out in 2021, which feels SO FAR AWAYYYYY! I cannot wait to see where the story ends up, and reconnect with the characters!

What are some gorgeous book covers that you love? Usually, I hate covers that picture real people, but I mean who wouldn’t love this one!!!

I was convinced to read Carry On by the entire bookish community. ALSO, I LOVE THE COVER OMG IT’S SO PRETTY! This book has already been discussed SO MUCH that there is little left to say, but I was slightly disappointed in the sequel, Wayward Son. I loved the characters and the themes that were discussed, so I am glad that I read it.

For those who haven’t read it, I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this novel, it’s packed to the brim with addictive characters, and the plot is one the best I’ve ever read.

What are some lgbt books that you loved? I would love to discover more reads in that genre.

Mums Are Calling For Jacqueline Wilson Books To Be 'Banned From Children'

I haven’t read that many “funny” books, as it isn’t a genre I’m interested in. But all of Jacqueline Wilson’s novels are entertaining and some could be labelled as comedic.

This isn’t really comedy related, but I first discovered Jacqueline Wilson when I was in Costa Rica with my family at age eight or nine. I read one of her books called Candyfloss, and it was an old battered copy that I had found at the hotel lobby. They let me keep it, and my addiction to her novels spiralled from there. I still come back to some of her more mature novels, and they always leave me feeling fulfilled.

Awake and Dreaming is a book that I read when I was pretty young(not certain exactly how old I was), but I can still reread it today, and the writing wouldn’t feel immature at all. It’s incredibly difficult to describe how amazing this novel is, it’s simply one that NEEDS to be read. It’s a beautiful story, with touching characters and stunning writing.

I love my physical copy of this book, AHHHH writing this is making me want to reread it!

Caraval, Legendary, and Finale by Stephanie Garber

Finale takes the cake with this question. After committing myself in reading all three books in the Caraval trilogy, I was genuinely terrified to see how the author would end it. As always, I was a little disappointed with the ending, but series’ ending are always a toughie.

Caraval is a marvellous and magical series, perfect for some fall/October reading!

What are some spooky reads you enjoy?

Hahaha, I LOVE THIS QUESTION! I adore reading unpopular books, just to see if my opinion will be different from the majority. But typically, books aren’t hated for no reason, so it’s rare from me to LOVE a book that EVERYONE hates. I would probably say that Lolita is right for this question. But it’s more so a controversial book than a hated book. Thousands of readers love this book as I do, but due to the contents of the book, some stay away. I have a review/discussion on this novel here.

Well, well well this is a juicy question. A book that I KNOW I would punch is Again, but Better. This book is VERYYYY sneaky. It tricked me, and everyone else who read it, into loving the first half, loving and connecting with the characters and then it COMPLETELY switched in the second half. The plot got VERY confusing, there was an IMMENSE time jump, then suddenly magic is incorporated, THEN, characters begun to time travel! WHAT IS GOING ON???(if you are confused, my review explains it all).

Here’s my review, where I go into detail about EVERYTHING that went wrong.

I am a SUCKER for a cute couple. FEYSAND FEYSAND FEYSAND!!!! I want to shout this off the rooftops, this is THE BEST, THE CUTEST, THE BEST EVERYTHING IN THE WORLD GOES TO THEM! This couple is from the ACOTAR series by Sarah J. Maas, ahhhh I love them!

I tag:

// Anna // Meghan // Rain // Charlotte + Anna // Rose // Anniek //

Thanks for reading! This was a VERY LONG tag! Have your read the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus books?

Ooh I loved reading your replies! This looks like great fun!!

I’m currently reading The Cruel Prince series so I am excited for what you mentioned as touching on sibling relationship… I am so intrigued by the dynamics between Jude and Taryn and can’t wait to see how it develops. 😆

I’ve heard lots of positive ranting about The Thousandth Floor from a friend (she spoiled the whole thing in her excitement!! *smacks face*)… glad you loved it too!
